Lotus Notes is great for Electronic Medical Records

IBM just rolled out a medical records system using Lotus Notes (click here to see the article).  It is hard to think of a better platform than Notes when it comes to medical records.  It allows for encrypted email, workflow when ordering tests and specialists, and an infinitely organizable file drawer.  What other platform does?

I hope IBM pushes the medical records into the US.  Better medical care needs organized medical records but doctors here are recalcitrant. The term "electronic medical records" says it all - as if "electronic" is something new!  It is the last bastion of refusal to use computers in this country...

Interesting, my client created an electronic medical record management system using Lotus Notes and Domino and has been running it for the past 10 years. So this is not surprising. Domino and Lotus Notes just cannot be beat when it comes to TCO, security, flexibility, and performance/cost. Great to hear some get it.
