Lotus Notes and the iPad - which one will blink first?

Ed Brill got his i-Pad and seems to love it. In particular he writes that the interface to the Notes calendar is nicer on the iPad than in Notes but it comes at the cost of removing functionality.

But that's a great idea!

Simplicity is good. These days of ever-changing technology means that all technology has to get simpler otherwise we can not adapt to it anymore. Many prefer iPhones over Blackberrys for that reason and we design our ReduceMail Pro mail management system also with simplicity in mind.

If there is a blackout my audio receiver gets reset and it takes me half an hour to figure out how to make sound come out of the speakers - I am not likely to buy another receiver any time soon, who wants that head ache again? And somebody can make me waste ten minutes if they click the wrong button on the TV multi functional remote. And don't talk to me about phone systems - I prefer a root canal to figuring out a phone system.

But who will blink first?

So far the iPhone is blinking with its 100 new features. I guess customers are willing to pay for more features and not for simplicity.

Too bad.
